What is Homocysteine?
Homocysteine is an amino acid produced during methionine metabolism. It requires B vitamins (B6, B12, folate) for proper clearance from the blood. Elevated levels accumulate when these pathways are impaired.
Why Homocysteine Matters
Elevated homocysteine is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease, cognitive decline, and accelerated aging. Lower levels are strongly associated with better vascular health and longevity. It's one of the most modifiable longevity markers.

- Rarely problematic
